That's My Grandma
If you know my grandma, you know she's pretty dang special; as in one of the most treasured people I know.
Oh Gram, it wasn't until I had kids of my own that I truly realized how intentional you are with the people you love, heck even strangers. I wish I could take a mental snap shot of all the memories of you I have in my head and let them play in LIVE feed for you because I know you would smile.
The slideshow would include you covered in a concealer stick that you let me take over your face with, the laughter of "Susie Canal" and "dumpers", sneak peaks of park dates and couch forts, a quick view of scramble because you know that's burned in my memory forever, riding in the back seat of the car belting oh what a beautiful morning, playing with your baby dolls and can't forget the little women dolls, my christmas bell collection and the charm bracelet you gave me, rubbing my head singing the same song I sing to my little boy (a you're adorable;), a quick flashback to when you surprised me for my birthday, and all the way to when you first held your great grandbabies in your hands for the first time. And that is only to name a few!
I love you because no matter how much pain you are facing and how much comes against you, you fight. You fight through the unfairness of suffering and hard days and you choose to stand even when you can't. You have shown me and all those who love you what it means to be a true fighter and a victor in the face of defeat. But even more important than that, you've taught me what it means to be generous. To be compassionate. To be consistent. And to be present.
You are one of the most important people in my life and I could never ever ever express the gratitude I feel that God gave me you. The world is a better place because you're in it.
I am so proud to call you my grandma and I wouldn't trade the curly hair or sleeping with my eyes half open for the world because if it means I get to be like you, I'll take it.
I love you a bushel and a peck.
Lots of love, your girl.
